Amber Wing discusses landing the Heel 7!

Amber fills us in on the new trick and whats to expect next

1. So how did the session play out?
I rode 3rd out of 4 people filming that morning. Not intending to try heel 7′s. I went out starting my set with all my 5′s i have been doing each set, grabbing flat and off axis. Benny G told Jon from TheWakePlace.com that i would land a toeside 7 for him. I got that out of the way and was feeling good so decided to try a heel 7. I got super close and 3 try’s later landed it!

2. Were they heavy crashes before you landed the heel 7?
Suprising not. The first one i tried that set i could have landed i just did not have the handle. I tried 1 the week before and was close, with not a hard fall.

3. How long have you been working on this trick?
I tried a lot of heelside 720 while filming for Push Process in 2007 but have not tried them for almost 2 years and i had some very bad crashes and concussions trying to land it. Then over 3 sets i probably spun 3 (1 off the wake and 2 off the double up), then had the set which i landed it.

4. Did anyone particularly help you with landing the trick?
In 2007 Keith Lyman helped me a lot. Then in the past week Ben Greenwood and Robert Sichel where in the boat helping me.

5. Have you stuck another one since?
I have had 3 sets since and have not tried one. When i have been out on the water i have not felt it. I dont like to force it if i am not feeling it.

5. Hows the contest scene going so far this year?
Contest season has been ok. The Australian Pro Tour for me was not the best as i was super stressed with my Aussie Adventure Road Tour. Once i arrived in Orlando I placed 5th at Wake Games, it was super windy and tough conditions. The US Masters i placed 3rd which i was happy to be back on the podium at a wake only event. Then the 1st Stop of the US Pro tour i placed 2nd, which i rode really well and was happy with my finish.

6. Hows the free riding scene going for you this year?
Freeriding scene is going AWESOME! i am so happy just out riding everyday a couple of sets and i have been improving every week and learning new tricks. It feels amazing and makes me so happy.

7. What other tricks can we look forward to you possibly landing in the near future.
I dont like to say what i am trying because sometimes it takes me a long time to land new tricks. SOOO i will give you a clue. The next NEW trick i really want to land is another SPIN!

8. Tell us about your worst wipe out trying new tricks
I would have to say a heel 7 off the double up. I caught my back edge and knocked my head pretty bad. I was taken to get some lunch and could not read the menu all the words/ letters were jumbled. I then fell asleep after 5 hours of staying awake, when i woke up i started throwing up. Pretty heavy.

9. Do you shorten your line when attempting new tricks?
When i am feeling not so confident of a particular trick trying it for the first time, i shorten the line and slow the boat down. However with a lot of new tricks i try i am confident and can see myself landing it in my head so i have no fear of trying it at full length and normal speed.

10. Any special projects you’ve been working on this season?
Not in particular, i came over to Orlando this year with a focus of landing new tricks. So excited to land the heel 7 as it was a goal of mine that i really wanted to achieve this season.
