Kansas City Watersports announces Relentless Weekend May 13-15
Friday, April 29th, 2011April 27th- Kansas City Watersports announces the return of what many people say is the most fun event of the year, Relentless Weekend!
This year, Liquid Force athletes Kevin Henshaw, Grant Roberts, and Aaron Reed will be on hand for the festivities! There will be some surprise guest appearances from various other wakeboard athletes and dignitaries…
Corey Marotta, Associate Publisher of Alliance Multimedia, states ““The Alliance crew counts the days each year as we impatiently await the annual Relentless Weekend. No other event offers participants the opportunity to ride and hang with top pros in such a relaxed and welcoming environment. Relentless Weekend kicks off our event season like no other and we’re super pumped to socialize and ride with our KC friends.”
Don Wallace, the VP of Liquid Force and long time Relentless fan agrees, “When scheduling our season’s travels, several of us here at LF mark the Relentless Weekend down on our calendar before all other events… it’s one of the best times to be had all season and we don’t want to miss it! The beauty of this event is that ALL abilities are welcome. Whether you’re a first timer on the cable or a seasoned pro, you’re guaranteed to have a blast, learn something new and make some new friends. Year after year the Relentless Weekend continues to deliver good times.”
Not to be outdone in the cool quote department, Aaron Reed adds, “I love KC Watersports. The Relentless Weekend is the event that epitomizes what this park is all about. Good times and great riding. What more could you ask for? I can’t wait for this event!”
The festivities will begin Friday May 13th with an open riding sessions alongside the Liquid Force Pro Riders from noon until 8 pm. The grill will be fired up all day so make sure to check out the new Snack Shack.
The fun will continue on Saturday with an open riding session from 10 am – noon. At noon the teams will be drawn and competition will begin. Every rider will work on their new trick with their team captain. At 4 pm the judging will begin, each rider will have one attempt to land their new trick. Thursday, April 28th, 2011Orlando, Fla. — Some of the top professional wakeboarders in the world gathered at the Orlando Watersports Complex in Orlando, Fla. today to qualify into the 2011 Nautique Wake Games, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. The grueling Pro Men’s division qualifier pinned 40 riders against each other, with only the top two pros from each of the 10 heats advancing on to Saturday’s quarterfinals.
Among the 20 pros that qualified today were a pair of rookie riders, debuting in their first pro contest. Steel Lafferty, 18, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and 19-year-old New York native Nick Galotifore not only qualified, but won their respective heats today.
“It’s usually a difficult transition going from amateur to pro, especially during your rookie season,” said Chief Judge Chris Bischoff. “But these guys killed it today and we’ll just have to see what happens in the contest over the next few days.”
The Nautique Wake Games, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink will continue through Sunday, May 1. Tomorrow’s free event will run from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will remain a ticketed event.
