Ayyyee wakeboarding had a massive weekend considering that it is full blown off season. And even better, it was all LF dominated too! I know it gets old, but I gotta keep on repeating myself, Relentless Domination!
First things first, I know you all already know, but this is massive. Our boy, Gavin Stuckey is 2024 Alliance Rider of the Year! I mean we all knew it was going to happen, but when he dropped Fusion, it cemented it. He did it all, innovated new tricks, won top tier contests, proved he is not just a single faceted rider, dropped a full video part that every single hit was total heat. His season is what defines a ROTY and it was very well deserved and earned. The highest of accomplishments in wake, awarded by his pears and industry icons, Gavin is a leader by direction and dedication to his sport and craft. Congrats Gavin, you earned it! He had a hell of a surprise party for it at OWC this past Friday.
Boardstock went down this past weekend at Bli Bli Wake Park on the sunny coast of Australia. This is Australia’s premier park event and it has been going down for quite some time now. So long that even yours truly has ridden in plenty of Boardstock’s. Anyone remember Brostock Oz………? Anyhow, Relentless Domination lived up to its name with a full LF podium. And what’s even funnier is that it was an all Butterstick Pro Podium. Nils Ritzmann locked up gold in the main features only event! To his left in silver was our boy Joe Battleday and then in bronze was fellow Frontliner Rudy Talboys! Yea boys! All riding the BSP! Congrats to you all on a dominating weekend at Boardstock.
Sidenote to Boardstock, Joe Battleday won king of kicker at the event with a regular h/s 10 to regular h/s late melon backside 9. If your really deep and in tune with wake and a psycho about it like myself, it’s not often you see regular heelside 10’s, so that’s one thing, another was that he combo’ed it into that late melon backside 9. The significance here, Joe is spinning both clockwise and counterclockwise back to back, a very difficult thing to do. We see you Joe, and we dig it!
Argentina has been a hotspot the last two weeks, especially for our girl Euge de Armas. The weekend before this past one she locked up a gold at the Argentinian Cable Wake Circuit stop at Molino Wake Park, and then followed it up with a silver this past weekend at Argentine Wakeboard Championships. And of course the Relentless Domination continues because Chiara Virag secured gold! And the La Familia crew was there to be a part of it, so Sam and Luca were on site to be a part of it all. Congrats Girls!
